If you want contacts to enter an automation in Mailcamp, it is important to understand how contacts are currently added to a workflow.
Contacts normally enter an automation through its trigger
- In the standard Mailcamp flow, contacts are added to an automation when they meet the workflow trigger conditions.
- The automation works against its selected audience and, if configured, its selected segment.
- This means a contact generally needs to already belong to the automation's audience before they can move through the workflow.
Mailcamp does not currently expose a bulk Add contacts workflow like some other platforms
- Based on the current automation interface, Mailcamp does not expose a bulk Add contacts tool for manually inserting many contacts into an automation from a dedicated popup.
- You should also not expect options such as Chosen contacts, Specific segment, or Add to a specific step unless those options are actually visible in your account UI.
- If you previously used this type of workflow elsewhere, that same bulk-entry experience is not currently shown in the Mailcamp automation screens.
How to manually add a contact in the current Mailcamp flow
- Open the automation you want to work with.
- Go to the automation Statistics or Audience view where contacts are listed.
- Find the contact you want to add.
- If the contact has not yet entered the automation, use Trigger Now to manually start the workflow for that contact.
Important limitations
- Trigger Now is a manual per-contact action, not a bulk add tool.
- If a contact already has an existing automation trigger in that workflow, Mailcamp will not create a duplicate entry through the same manual trigger flow.
- For normal automation behavior, contacts should still enter through the configured trigger whenever possible.
Before you try to add a contact manually
- Make sure the contact already exists in the automation's selected audience.
- If the automation depends on a segment, make sure the contact matches that segment as well.
- Check that the automation itself is properly configured so the contact can continue through the workflow after being triggered.
Important note
- This article should not promise a bulk Add contacts or add existing contacts workflow unless that feature is actually visible in the current Mailcamp automation UI.
