How to switch from Mailchimp to Mailcamp

Switching from Mailchimp to Mailcamp is easiest when you export your contacts from Mailchimp as a CSV file, then import that file into the correct audience in Mailcamp. Mailcamp currently uses a CSV-based import flow, so there is no need to connect your Mailchimp account directly.

Before you start

  • Make sure you know which Mailchimp audience or segment you want to move.
  • Decide which Mailcamp audience should receive the imported contacts.
  • Check that your export includes column headers in the first row, because Mailcamp uses those headers during mapping.

Step 1: Export contacts from Mailchimp

  • Log in to your Mailchimp account.
  • Open the audience or segment you want to migrate.
  • Export the contacts as a CSV file.
  • Save the file somewhere easy to find on your computer.

Step 2: Start the import in Mailcamp

  • Log in to Mailcamp.
  • Open the audience you want to import into.
  • Go to Contacts.
  • Choose Import contacts.
  • Click Start Import to open the import wizard.

Step 3: Upload your CSV file

  • On the Upload CSV File step, select the CSV file you exported from Mailchimp.
  • Upload the file and continue to the next step.

Step 4: Map your columns

On the Mapping step, Mailcamp asks where each CSV column should be stored in your audience.

  • Map your email column to the Email field. This field is required.
  • Map standard fields such as first name, last name, phone number, company, or country to existing audience fields when available.
  • If a Mailchimp column does not exist in Mailcamp yet, create a new field during mapping.
  • If you do not need a column, skip it.

Once the mapping looks correct, continue to the next step.

Step 5: Run the import

  • On the Progress step, start the import.
  • Wait while Mailcamp processes the file.
  • Large imports may take several minutes depending on file size and server performance.

Step 6: Review the result

  • When the import finishes, review the summary.
  • Check how many contacts were added, updated, or skipped.
  • Open the audience Contacts section to confirm your imported records are there.

Tips for a smoother migration

  • Review your CSV before importing, especially if your Mailchimp export includes custom fields.
  • If you rely on tags, groups, or segments in Mailchimp, review that data first and recreate the equivalent setup in Mailcamp where needed.
  • Import into the correct audience from the start, so your contacts stay organized.

After the import is complete, you can continue organizing your contacts inside Mailcamp and prepare your next campaign from there.
