The preheader is the short line of supporting text that appears next to or below the subject line in many inboxes. In Mailcamp, you can edit the preheader to improve how the campaign looks before a contact even opens it.
Why the preheader matters
- It gives extra context beyond the subject line.
- It helps improve the first impression in the inbox preview.
- It can support your subject line with more specific or more useful wording.

- Open the campaign you want to edit.
- Go to the content area of the campaign.
- Use the Preheader section if it is shown on the content page.
- In the classic editor flow, you can also edit the preheader directly inside the editor screen.

- Click the option to add or edit the preheader.
- Mailcamp opens the preheader form or input area.
- Enter the text you want to use as the inbox preview support line.
- Save the change when you are done.
How to remove the preheader
- If a preheader already exists, Mailcamp can also let you remove it.
- Use the remove option from the preheader section and confirm the action if prompted.
Helpful writing tips
- Keep the preheader short and clear.
- Use it to support the subject line, not repeat it word for word.
- Highlight one useful reason to open the email.
- Avoid filler text that does not add meaning.
When to review the preheader
- Before sending a campaign to your audience.
- After changing the subject line.
- After editing the main content if the message angle changes.
