How to use internal campaign names

In Mailcamp, the campaign name is the internal label you use to identify a campaign inside your account. It helps you stay organized while working in the dashboard, campaign list, reports, and setup flow. It is different from the subject line that contacts see in their inbox.

What an internal campaign name is

  • It is the campaign name field you fill in during campaign setup.
  • It is mainly for your own organization and reporting inside Mailcamp.
  • Contacts normally see the subject line, not the internal campaign name.

Where to set the campaign name

  • Create a new campaign and move to the Setup step.
  • Use the Name your campaign field at the top of the setup form.
  • Then complete the rest of the setup, including subject line, from name, from email, and reply-to address.

Why internal campaign names are useful

  • They make it easier to find campaigns later in your campaign list.
  • They help you distinguish drafts, tests, and live sends.
  • They make reports and internal reviews easier to understand.
  • They are useful when several campaigns use similar subject lines.

Best ways to name campaigns

  • Use a name that clearly describes the purpose of the send.
  • Include details such as audience, date, offer, or version when helpful.
  • Keep the wording consistent so your campaign list stays easy to scan.

Good examples

  • April product update - active customers
  • Welcome series test - subject A
  • Black Friday promo - VIP segment

What not to confuse it with

  • The internal campaign name is not the same as the subject line.
  • The internal campaign name is not the same as the from name.
  • Changing the internal name helps your team stay organized, but it does not replace contact-facing copy choices.

Helpful tips

  • Use a naming style your team can follow every time.
  • Label tests clearly so they are easy to separate from live campaigns.
  • If you duplicate campaigns often, rename the copy right away so you do not confuse versions later.

In short, internal campaign names are a simple but important way to keep your Mailcamp campaigns organized behind the scenes.
