Mailcamp gives you more than one way to create an email campaign, depending on the type of message you want to send and how you prefer to build the content. At the highest level, Mailcamp supports Regular campaigns and Plain text campaigns. For regular campaigns, you may also be able to choose between the visual builder and the classic editor.
Option 1: Create a regular campaign
- A regular campaign is the standard HTML email campaign in Mailcamp.
- It is the best choice when you want a designed email with richer formatting, images, buttons, layout control, and tracking.
- This is the most common option for newsletters, announcements, promotions, and marketing updates.
Option 2: Create a plain-text campaign
- A plain-text campaign skips the HTML design experience and uses a simple text-only editor.
- It is useful when you want a lighter, more minimal email without HTML layout blocks.
- This can be a good fit for simple personal-style messages or low-format communication.
Different content-building paths for regular campaigns
- After creating a regular campaign, you can continue through the content step and choose how to build the message.
- If your setup allows it, Mailcamp can offer a visual builder for drag-and-drop editing.
- Mailcamp can also offer a classic editor for users who want more direct control over HTML content.
- You can also choose or change templates before you start editing the campaign content.
How to start a new campaign
- Go to Campaigns.
- Click Create campaign.
- On the campaign type screen, choose the option that fits your goal.
- Then move through the normal setup flow: recipients, setup, content, schedule, and confirm.
How to choose the right option
- Choose Regular when design, layout, branding, and richer content matter.
- Choose Plain text when you want a simpler email with minimal formatting.
- Choose the visual builder if you want an easier, block-based content workflow.
- Choose the classic editor if you want more manual editing control.
Helpful tip
If you are unsure, start with a regular campaign. It gives you the most flexibility, and you can still decide later whether to use the visual builder or the classic editor for the content itself.
