If you are new to Mailcamp, the fastest way to get started is to complete a few setup steps before you send your first campaign. This helps you build a clean audience, improve deliverability, and make sure your first send goes smoothly.
Before you send anything
- Make sure your Mailcamp account is active and you can log in successfully.
- Confirm your profile details so your account information is up to date.
- Plan to send only to contacts who have given you permission to email them.
Step 1: Review your dashboard
- After you log in, Mailcamp takes you to the dashboard.
- Use the dashboard to get a quick view of plan usage, recent campaign activity, and account status.
- If you see onboarding prompts, you can follow them to move through the basic setup faster.
Step 2: Add and verify your sending domain
- Go to Sending > Sending domains.
- Add the domain you want to use for sending.
- Copy the DNS records Mailcamp gives you and add them at your domain provider.
- Return to Mailcamp and complete the verification step.
Verifying your sending domain is one of the most important setup steps because it improves deliverability and helps protect your sender reputation.
Step 3: Create your first audience
- Go to Audiences.
- Click Create audience.
- Enter the basic audience details, including the audience name and default sender information.
- Save the audience so you have a place to store and manage your contacts.
Step 4: Add contacts
- Open the audience you want to work with.
- Import contacts from a CSV file, or add contacts manually if you are starting small.
- If you import a CSV, make sure the file includes column headers so Mailcamp can map the fields correctly.
Step 5: Verify your audience quality
- If needed, use Mailcamp's verification tools to review email quality before sending.
- Remove invalid, risky, or low-quality addresses to reduce bounces and complaints.
- Starting with a clean audience makes it easier to protect your domain reputation from the beginning.
Step 6: Create your first campaign
- Go to Campaigns.
- Click Create campaign.
- Choose your recipients, complete the campaign setup, and design your email.
- Send a test email before you launch the campaign.
- When everything looks good, send immediately or schedule it for later.
Step 7: Start small and review results
- For your first send, start with a smaller and more engaged audience if possible.
- After sending, review opens, clicks, bounces, and complaints in your reports.
- Use those results to improve your next subject line, audience selection, and content.
Helpful tips for new Mailcamp users
- Keep your subject lines clear, honest, and relevant.
- Make sure your email includes a working unsubscribe option.
- Do not send to purchased, rented, or scraped audiences.
- If you are migrating from another platform, export your contacts first and then import them into the correct audience in Mailcamp.
Once these basics are in place, you will be ready to build better campaigns, improve deliverability, and explore more advanced Mailcamp features such as segments, custom fields, forms, and automation.
